The "Jazz Canadiana" Website is authored by Hal Hill, jazz authority, broadcaster and concert producer.

A long-time jazz fan, Hal started his career writing articles for "Coda Magazine" and the "Buffalo Jazz Report". He owned an operated the "Jazz and Blues Centre" in downtown Toronto for over 14 years and hosted a jazz radio programme on CKQT-FM (Oshawa, Ontario) and CKLN-FM (Toronto) for a combined period of 23 years. He is the contributing columnist for the "Performing Arts of Canada" magazine (he introduced the jazz/classical CD review section to this magazine).

He has served as one of the Master of Ceremonies at the Downtown Toronto Jazz Festival for a number of years, and produced concerts at St. Andrew's United Church in Markham, Ontario, where he resides with his wife Chris, featuring many of the major jazz names in Canada; Guido Basso, Jim Galloway, Peter Appleyard, Oliver Jones, Rob McConnell, Ed Bickert, Hagood Hardy, Phil Nimmons, John Arpin, Don Thompson, Sean Bray, Richard Whiteman, Trish Colter/Paul Read, Alex Pangman, Barry Elmes, Gene DiNovi/Dave Young, Kim Hunt, Lorne Lofsky, Dave McMurdo and many others...

He owns a web site devoted to promoting jazz in general, and Canadian artists in particular, is the Artistic Director/Associate Producer of the Markham Jazz Festival and finds time to volunteer for the Evergreen Hospice (Markham), sing in a Church choir and in a male vocal group 'Men of Note', and takes jazz into the schools in York Region, Ontario, through the auspices of the Markham Jazz Festival and the Ontario Trillium Foundation.

In 1999 Hal received the ACRA award (Achievement & Civic Recognition Award) from the Town of Markham.
