Fraser MacPherson

Born in 1928 and raised in Victoria, British Columbia, Fraser moved to Vancouver in 1948 and began an extensive career as a studio and night club musician with jazz opportunities limited to CBC radio programmes.

In 1975 he formed a trio with Oliver Gannon and Wyatt Reuther and began to concentrate entirely on jazz. His trio made four tours of the USSR and was part of a CBC package heard in Montreux in 1979. In 1983 he won a Juno award for Best Canadian jazz recording and in 1987 was made a member of the "Order of Canada". He passed away in September 1993, a victim of cancer.
